Coffee is the most popular beverage in the world. It is 2nd only to oil as the most imported commodity in the United States. We consume one-fifth the worlds' coffee with it being the most served beverage in the United States!
Coffee has many countries of origins with the most popular being Columbia and Brazil. They differ in quality, taste characteristics and availability. These differences are complex and comparing one regions coffee to another region is like comparing apples to oranges.
Most coffee being bought in supermarkets is stale coffee. Like many food products coffee can be consumed stale but is not as flavorful as coffee beans roast. The only way to enjoy the true potential of coffee is to have fresh roasted Arabica bean coffee. Arabica coffee beans makes of the most flavorful and aromatic coffees, making them the gourmet coffees of the world. Arabica beans produce a superior taste in the cup, with a slight hint of sweetness from each sip. Arabica beans that are roasted and ground the same day will always produce some of the most delicious coffee that can be consumed anytime.
Coffee is best a day or two after being roasted from coffee bean roasters. Everyday that follows the coffee flavor deteriorates. Immediately following roasting the coffee begins to loose carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide is exchanged for oxygen. The oxygen degrades flavor oils in the bean. Many methods have been implemented to try to keep coffee fresh including vacuum containers and valve sealed packaging. Coffee on the supermarket shelves was roasted 2-3 years prior to being sold! Nothing will be as tasty as a freshly roasted cup of coffee Arabica freshly brewed!
